Upper Gwynedd Township announces the
Comprehensive Recreation, Park and Open Space Plan
Project Purpose
Upper Gwynedd Township, Department of Parks and Recreation, is developing a Comprehensive Recreation, Park and Open Space plan (CRPOS). The first public meeting will be held on Wednesday, November 29th at 6:30 PM at the Township Building. The 12-month long public planning process will conclude in December 2024.
The planning team will create a CRPOS plan that will help guide the Township in the protection and enhancement of their parks and open spaces over the next 15 to 20 years.
Simone Collins Landscape Architecture of Norristown is lead consultant and is being assisted by Derek Dureka, Certified Parks and Recreational Professional.
The team will uncover the community’s vision for the Township’s Park and Open Space while exploring opportunities for: better pedestrian and cyclist connectivity that is universally accessible; new recreational facilities; additional protected open space; and new recreational programs that meet community needs.
The CRPOS Plan is partially funded by a grant from the Community Conservation Partnership Program administered by the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR), Bureau of Recreation and Conservation.
How to Participate
Community participation is an integral part of building a successful CRPOS plan. The Township is encouraging all interested citizens to assist in the creation of the plan through attending public meetings, taking the public opinion survey, and reviewing the draft plan.
Attend Public Meetings
All public meetings will be held in-person from 6:30PM – 8:30PM at the Upper Gwynedd Township Building located at 1 Parkside Place, North Wales, PA 19454.

Take the Survey
This web-based public opinion survey asks about respondents’ recreational habits as well as their opinions about Upper Gwynedd Township’s parks and open space. The survey is a tool to help the consultant and the Township better understand the recreational needs of the community.

Review the Draft Plan
The CRPOS Draft Plan report will present all essential data and ideas in a streamlined narrative and highly graphic format. This information will be available for review from the public from September 5, 2024, to November 5, 2024 for public review.
