Upper Gwynedd Parks and Recreation Program Refund Policy

There are no refunds unless a program is canceled. For those registering for an athletic or outdoor program such as tennis, soccer, basketball, etc. ; please be aware, Upper Gwynedd Township Parks and Recreation will do our best to schedule one addition or extended lesson for a rain out. In the event that there is more than one day rained out, there will be no refund.

 

FALL 2023 PROGRAMS: 

Winter Break Pottery Camp

Our winter break camp is a great way to spend a week getting to know the art of ceramics, while meeting new friends and fellow artists. Each day begins with a new lesson on hand building, followed by a guided project incorporating the new technique taught. We will also be dabbling with modeling clay (oil-based polymer.) All terracotta projects will be glazed by the participants and then taken back to INDI studios at the end of the week to be fired. All pieces will be available for pick up within 10 days from the last day of camp. Please bring a light snack and drink. All supplies included. Winter Break Chess Camp

Join us this winter break for tons of challenging chess lessons, exciting games, and cool prizes. You'll improve your chess skills, and work out your most powerful muscle - your brain! Our camps include fun team chess games, recess time, snacks, tournaments, and puzzles. Each participant receives a T-shirt, trophy, and puzzle folder. We include all the materials necessary. Unleash your brain power and spend part of your vacation with Chess Wizards!

Pokémon Engineering using LEGO® Materials

Calling all Pokémon trainers! With the Pokémon Championship approaching, join our enthusiastic Play-Well Instructors as we build and catch our favorite Pokémon, rescue Pikachu from Team Rocket, take a ride on the S.S. Anne to uncover rare and mystic Pokémon, and battle to see who will hold the title of Pokémon Master. Come along on our journey to catch 'em all!!

When: Winter Session 1: Wednesdays Dec. 6-Jan. 17 (omit Dec. 27)

NEW! Winter LEGO: Winter Wonderland Engineering with LEGO® Materials

Let your imagination run wild with tens of thousands of LEGO® parts as we design and build leaping dolphins, buzzing beehives, and towering giraffes. Play, create, and learn in a world inspired by the animal kingdom. Design and build as never before and explore your craziest ideas.

When: Wednesdays, Jan 17 - March 8

Mad Science: NASA

Mad Science and NASA have teamed up to bring you this exciting program! Create your own comet and explore the sun, moon, stars and planets. Learn what it’s like to live in space and work with laser technology that has been developed for space exploration. Investigate the forces of flight by building your own rocket! Weather permitting; our session will end with an actual rocket launch!

When: Fridays, January 19 - February 23

Young Rembrandts: Elementary Drawing/Cartooning Class

Our elementary/cartooning class combines our innovative guided instruction, topics that kids love and relate to, and instructors that know how to reach this group; we take kids from thinking they’re not ‘artists’ to knowing they can achieve this, and everything else, they put their minds to. Our light-hearted subject matter will engage children, their sense of humor and their vivid imaginations.

When: Saturdays, Winter Session: Jan. 20 - March 9 | Spring Session: March 30-May 25 (NO class 4/27)

NEW! Valentine's Day Family Crafting Workshop

Kids and adults alike, come discover the fun of paper crafting while making handmade crafts for Valentine's Day. You'll learn techniques like stamping and die-cutting, and make and take home three projects for Valentine's Day such as cards and treat packaging. All supplies included and both the parent/caregiver will make and take home three projects each.

When: Sunday, January 21

Where: Parkside Place Park: Community Center

Time: 1:00-3:00PM

Fee: $25 per person - each person must pay the fee if making projects. So, you must sign up the parent/caregiver in addition to the child(ren) if the adult will also make projects during the workshop (which is encouraged). 

Ages: 10 and up - must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver

NEW! Drama Club

In Theatre Horizon Drama Club, students are familiarized with the fundamentals of acting as they create and then perform their own original play. Led by professional teaching artists, students practice and develop the Connecting C's: confidence & creativity, collaboration & communication, and community & care. Class culminates in a final showcase as students perform their world premiere original play for an audience of family and friends.

Looking for a special valentine activity to do together OR that special valentine present to give someone? Maybe you need the perfect activity to do with friends. We have the solution! Design and hand build your own ceramic heart for Valentine's Day! We will teach you how to use texture, glaze, and you can decide if you want to make it a heart plate, bowl, or wall art! Light up a cool fall evening with your own unique Lantern or Luminaire! In this workshop you will work with clay and learn hand building, texture, and glazing techniques in order to style your Lantern/Luminaire according to your creative vision and home design.   All instructions, materials, and firing included. Projects will be available for pickup one week after the class date at the township office. Bring the Spring inside with your own flower that will never die. CHEMICAL CURIOSITIES

Mix up potions and experiment with all kinds of chemical reactions! Combine chemicals to create exothermic reactions, examine our non-Newtonian fluid, make your own sidewalk chalk and crystal gardens to take home!

ENERGY & MOTION

Forces are FUNdamental! Explore the energy of motion (potential versus kinetic energy) while tinkering with things that boink, pop, float, swing, and roll!
