Trash Collection and Recycling
Upper Gwynedd Township residents are responsible for contracting with a private hauler for recycling and solid waste removal. Residents have the opportunity to select the trash hauler of their choice. The Township requires haulers to provide curbside collection of leaf waste at least once during the spring and at least once during the fall of each year. The collection dates can be obtained from your trash hauler.
Chapter 160 of the Upper Gwynedd Township Code was adopted to reduce the amount of municipal waste and conservation of recyclable materials. It is the intent of the code to promote, require and regulate recycling activities in the Township and to protect the health, safety and welfare of residents. The Township does the following to support this effort:
- Registering municipal waste collectors for recycling activities
- Set rules and regulations related to the separation, collection, processing and marketing of recyclable materials and enforce them
- Educational efforts: including information in our newsletters & website and requiring that haulers send at least once a year send customers a recycling info sheet
