Upper Gwynedd Township Police provide public safety services to a community of approximately 14,243 people who live within 8.1 square miles. The population estimate for 2005 is 15,410. The racial makeup of the Township is 86.8% White, 7.8% Asian, 4.0% Black or African American, 0.1% American Indian and Alaskan Native and 0.4% from other races. 1.5% of the population is Hispanic or Latino.
There are 5,341 households of which 33.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them. 65.3% are married-couples living together. 7.6% of the households have a female householder with no husband present and 25% are non-family households. 21.2% of the households are those living alone and 7.2% of those persons 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.63 while the average family size is 3.08.

The median household income is $71,078 and the median family income is $81,371. The per-capita income is $32,806 with the male median income being $52,430. 1.4% of the families and 1/9% of individuals are in poverty status.
An informal day-time Census by the police department during the school year in 2000 estimated daytime populations in schools and industry to be between 32,000 and 35,000, excluding households.
